”The Son” based on the novel The Gospel According to the Son by Norman Mailer, 2001 – dramatisation/director. A contemporary reading of the life of Jesus Christ with Tunisian-German-Danish actor Samy Andersen.

”The Son” bubbles with talent. Peter Bensteds solo adaption is a convincing success.” Information - Denmark. (National Daily – equiv. Independent)

”The new testament, Norman Mailer, an actor, a director and a lighting designer combined to make an amazing experience. Samy Andersen fills the room completely - with his skinny body and his burning brown eyes. Peter Bensted has directed his actor in the finest details of the monologue and added a wealth of small but effective moments. Samy Andersen himself delivers a miracle. He turns Jesus into a person. A strong and relevant contemporary performance.” Fyens Amts Avis – Regional Daily, Denmark.

”Crusade” by Amin Maalouf, 2002 – dramatisation/director. A dramatisation/marriage of two books by the Lebanese/French writer Amin Maalouf looking at historic and contemporary relations, and understandings, between Western Europe and the Middle East.

“The Odense City Theatre Gadesjakket doesn’t have small goals! And comprehension and confession are quite some goals! Comprehension for the past, because this is the only way that we can understand the present. And confessions regarding fundamentally different global understandings, because this is the only way to make that which is “foreign“ comprehensible.  And then, just as we think that we have “got the point“, and the whole story is about to end on moral high ground, with peace and human understanding here on earth, a surprising ending effectively balances questions of cause and effect, aims and means, and the power of belief and values - whether Western or Muslim. Fadime Turan, Lai Yde Holgaard and Thomas Leth Rasmussen perform their three roles with great depth, and with plenty of space for further thought - in the midst of all the comedy.” Jyllands Posten – Denmark (national daily – equiv. The Scotsman).

“Crusade may be a “small” play, but it is an important one, because in its use of “play” and entertainment, it makes us a little wiser about ourselves and the world we all inhabit. Unbearably funny in sequences that not only make us laugh out loud, but also allow us to understand that we are all potential traitors to humanity. Gadesjakket deliver a full-blooded basis for debate. Exciting story-telling which is lifted from its dark and serious theme with a releasing humour. All teenagers and their parents should be press-ganged to see this play.” Fyns Stiftstidende (regional daily)
